COC de Kroon is a part of COC Leiden. COC Leiden is the interest group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people in the Netherlands. The COC is a federation consisting of 20 local member associations (such as COC Leiden and De Kroon), the federation office is located in Amsterdam.
Our building was originally a gin factory called Harteveld. De Kroon was one of the brands that was originally distilled in this building. Nowadays, jenever is no longer distilled, but there is a bar where you can enjoy a drink and dance. Our bar is open every Friday and Saturday. Live DJs will play on Saturdays with the most diverse music that provide a smashing party.
De Kroon can also be used for student drinks and parties, school parties, meetings, presentations and other events where reverse integration, “Come and have a look in a gay tent” is an important starting point.
Our building is wheelchair accessible, has gender-neutral toilets, has beamer and tv displays and is a 10-minute walk from Leiden Central Station.
Our volunteer team is always growing, and we’re especially on the lookout for a Hospitality Volunteer to join our bar‑and‑catering crew. Whether you’re a seasoned service pro or just eager to learn the ropes behind the bar, we’d love to hear from you!
